Simply plug Covert Dock Mini into the wall and connect your TV and Nintendo Switch and you’re good to go - epic gaming memories on tap.

The ‘Mini’ is essentially the same size, if not smaller, than your typical smartphone charger but arguably more convenient with foldable prongs and a full 4K HDMI dock inside. Now that phone’s don’t even come with chargers, we think the Covert Dock Mini is the perfect option for not just gaming but all of your portable gadgets.

How to Use

To charge your handheld console: simply unfold the prongs out of the Covert Dock Mini and plug it into a power outlet. Then plug the included USB-C 3.2 cable from the USB-C port to your handheld console.
To connect your handheld console to a big screen: connect an HDMI cable (sold separately) from the HDMI port of the Covert Dock Mini to your television or monitor’s HDMI input port. While most devices will not need you to power the Covert Dock Mini to use, the Nintendo Switch specifically needs the power to go into docking mode - which can be confirmed when the console screen turns off and is broadcasted to the big screen. Also note that Joy-Con’s need to be detached from the console to work in docked mode.

Will this work with my device?

The Covert Dock Mini is one of the most versatile docks supporting not only the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck’s unique docking requirements, but also the wider USB-C DisplayPort (DP Alt Mode) standard compatible with just about every dockable USB-C device including most handheld gaming consoles (ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, MSI Claw, AyaNeo, Anbernic), Apple devices (Macbook, iPad, iPhone), PC laptops, and many Android tablets and phones.

Can I use this on any screen?

Any screen with HDMI input will work, which generally includes any TV, projector, or monitor made within the last decade. Devices that do not have HDMI such as an iPad or Laptop monitor will additionally need a ShadowCast device to convert that HDMI signal to USB-C.

Does this work with ShadowCast?

Yes, you can use all versions of ShadowCast with the Covert Dock Mini to connect your laptop or tablet instead of a TV. Simply plug in the HDMI side of ShadowCast into the Covert Dock Mini HDMI port.

Why aren’t my Joy-Cons working?

Unfortunately the Nintendo Switch does not allow attached Joy-Cons to be used while docked and need to be detached and used wirelessly.

Why doesn’t this work with the Nintendo Switch dock?

In essence you can’t dock a dock.

Works well on recent TVs

All the functionality of a normal Nintendo Switch dock in a much smaller package aside from one small thing— the original dock seems to be smart enough to recognize the pixels the tv is expecting and auto-scale down if necessary. Genki’s dock leaves that functionality out. If you have a current tv, it’ll probably work fine, but if you have an older tv (like the 720p/1080i plasma at my parents’ house), you’ll need to manually go into the Switch’s tv settings and change it from auto to 720p before plugging it into the usb-c jack. If you don’t change the setting, the Switch goes dark, but nothing shows up on the tv. If you do switch the setting first, it works fine. Genki’s documentation didn’t mention this, and I spent over an hour trying different cords, outlets, and TVs before I figured it out.

Great little dock

I am very pleased with this. It is much smaller than my original Nintendo dock, and it doesn’t brick. Much more convenient to bring when traveling. Great fast charging as well.

My favorite travel accessory

I travel a lot and I use this thing for mainly 2 things.

1- Nintendo switch

2 and probably the one I use the most - Connect my tablet to the hotel TV to watch movies.

And absolute must if you are planning to spend anytime on hotels.

Quite the useful tool!

I overall really like how this dock works, its small and its wires are easy enough to carry with it.

Only thing I noticed was that it didn't see to be able to stream the Youtube App thats on the Switch itself - not sure the reasoning for that. But all other games it runs it fairly well, I'll for sure be bringing this along with me on my next trip!
